Meetings

Rocky Forge Blacksmith Guild meetings are usually held on the second Saturday of each month. Meetings generally begin at 8:30 AM with coffee and social time, with a business meeting at 9 AM, frequently followed by blacksmithing demonstrations, and then forge time for everyone. We have taken to holding a potluck lunch sometime around noon. During the winter, we occasionally arrange for blacksmithing-related meetings, such as visiting welding shops and steel plants. Alternately, we may arrange for a demonstration of some interesting technique, method, or equipment.

Most meetings are held at the home of one of our members. Contact us for directions and information.

August 12, 2017
Hammer-in at Ted's shop; we will be finishing the knives we started in June! Iron-in-the-hat, as always, and there will be chicken and noodles for lunch; please bring a real side dish to complement those. See the newsletter for details.
 
September 9, 2017
Hammer-in at Ted's shop; Open forge time; members who have not finished their knives may do so, and everyone else is encouraged to think of items they would like to make. As always, guidnace and mentorship will be available. Iron-in-the-hat, as always, and there will be "gourmet cardiologist approved hot dogs prepared a special way" for lunch; please bring a real side dish to complement those. History Day with the Illiana Antique Power Association. We need volunteers to demonstrate blacksmithing for hundreds of fourth graders! Please see the newsletter for details.
 
October 14, 2017
Basic safety and forging training for new members and interested people. Open forge time for experienced members. Iron-in-the-hat, as always, and there will be ham and beans for lunch; please bring a real side dish to complement those. See the newsletter for details.
 
November 11, 2017
Metal-working demonstration, followed by open forge time. We will be working on Christmas decorations for the Illiana show grounds. Iron-in-the-hat, as always, and there will be a pitch-in lunch. See the newsletter for details.
 
December 9, 2017
We are NOT meeting as a Guild this month. The IBA is having their monthly meeting on the 9th, and our members are encouraged to attend that instead. Rocky Forge meetings will resume the second Saturday of January (January 13th). See the newsletter for details.
