About the Guild

The Rocky Forge Blacksmith Guild is a chapter of the Indiana Blacksmithing Association, Inc. (IBA). IBA is, in turn, a chapter of the Artist-Blacksmiths' Association of North America (ABANA). The Guild is one of several chapters, and covers the driving distance around the Lafayette-Attica area of Indiana and eastern Illinois. The Guild is also associated with the Illiana Antique Power Association.

The Guild meets once a month, usually on the second Saturday. Check our events calendar to be sure. Everyone is welcome, and there is no need for beginners to bring tools, coal, or metal to work, as supplies are available.

April, 2005

In November of 2004 the Guild hosted the monthly IBA meeting. One of our members took a number of photographs, and they are available on his website. A reporter from the Lafayette Journal and Courier attended our February, 2005 joint meeting with the Rural Smiths of Mid-America. You can read the article, entitled "Artisans forge strong ties to forgotten craft", at the Journal and Courier website.

Two of our members recently visited shop of blacksmith Lorelei Sims and also went to an exhibit of her work at Eastern Illinois University. Links to the photos they took are below.
